As head of the kitchen, Philippo Santangelo aims to offer elegant, inventive cuisine, where the combinations of flavors are often new and original...
He attended hotel management school but had no affinity with the world of cooking. When he finished his studies in 1991, Mr Santangelo chose to work as a waiter. In 2009, he was appointed head chef, somewhat by chance. In 2010, he was awarded his 1st star! Mr Santangelo is what we call a self-taught virtuoso.
A trained decorator (he designed the restaurant's new decor), he helps to create the menus. Together with Philippo Santangelo, they are working towards the future, to give customers maximum pleasure in terms of taste and relaxation.
As Philippo Santangelo's right-hand man, over the years he has become the anchor, the rock on which we can rely. Active in the kitchen, where he creates our pastries, he is also the one who guides and advises our customers, ensuring that they have a pleasant time.
The cuisine of Philippo Santangelo and John Oremans, with its precision, refinement and alchemy of flavours, has earned the restaurant a fine reputation. Many gourmets, both regulars and the curious, are invited to come and savour the culinary offerings of the moment. For several years now, we've been keen to introduce people to Italian cuisine, which is rarely represented outside Italy.
We were already doing a theme menu once a month, with an Italian menu. After the 1st Covid lockdown and a lot of soul-searching, we decided to take the plunge and
completely change our cuisine.
Our aim? To take customers on a journey without them having to leave Belgium. To show them that Italian gastronomy is not just pizza, pasta and schnitzel Milanese. It's also a
fine and inventive cuisine based on excellent products.
